What is Consent?
Understanding Teton's Request for Resident Consent
During your initial onboarding, your customer success manager will talk with you about collecting consent from your residents.
This consent form is not to utilize the Teton system, but to enable Teton's training function which helps to improve the Teton system.
During training modethe system may record up to twenty 30-second video clips every 24 hours, which are then uploaded to Teton’s annotation platform.
Recordings are triggered by any of six different scenarios:
1. A detection of a person on the floor (sitting/laying)
2. A detection with flickering
3. An unknown situation
4. A detection of a person with a low confidence detection in several frames
5. A detection of a person in a lift
6. A detection where the persons whereabouts are flickering
The clips are subsequently reviewed to verify the accuracy of the system’s detection. If an error is identified necessary adjustments will be made to the detection and relayed back to the model for improved accuracy.
What personal data is processed, and how is it processed?
- Collection: Teton One collects images from the optical sensor in the citizen's apartment or hospital room
- Processing and purpose: Images are used to develop and optimize Teton's solutions and services by annotating images for important points
- Interest: Teton has no interest in trying to identify individuals in the pictures but exclusively looks at movement patterns and care-relevant events to train the algorithms.
- Derived data: Teton will analyze the clips to identify data points such as the person's presence, shape, movement patterns, and the context in the room.
- Data content: The clips contain an acronym for the recording location, an ID number of the sensor and the date.
Purpose of the data: These data points are used to train Teton’s algorithms for better recognition of people and movement patterns, which improves care and safety.
Can a resident withdraw consent if they change their mind?
A resident can withdraw their consent at any time by informing the staff or contacting Teton directly via email: support@teton.ai. Upon withdrawal, Teton will delete all image data related to that person. However, they should be aware that the withdrawal does not affect the legality of the processing of their personal data that occurred before the withdrawal.
Why might Teton request consent after onboarding?
In the event that the system is frequently showing errors in a particular room, we may ask for consent from that resident in order to identify the trigger to the error, and correct it in the system. This could be granted temporarily.
If you or your residents have any questions regarding consent, please reach out to your customer success manager or success@teton.ai.
