What does it mean when the system misses a fall?

We take this very seriously. If it happens, please inform us as soon as possible so we can identify the errors in the system and prevent it from happening again in the future.

Potential reasons why the sensor missed a fall:

The sensor sees a room or situation it hasn't seen before:

• It can be a bit complicated to explain, but for our sensor to understand something in a room, it needs to have seen something similar before. If it experiences a new room or a new situation, it may be more difficult for it to understand what's happening.
• For example, if the sensors have only recently been set up at your facility, they might not be fully accustomed to understanding the new environment yet.

The resident fell behind an object and couldn't be seen properly:

• Another situation could be where a resident would be difficult to see, even if you were standing in the room yourself. This could be if they are in a living room or bathroom and therefore only partially visible. This is something we constantly work on improving, and if you tell us when it happens, we can train the system to better understand that situation in the future.

A brief introduction to how our sensor understands the room:

Everything the camera sees is automatically understood by the computer and translated into the small stick figures you've probably seen. These images and texts are what we send on to you.

For the sensor to understand what it sees, it needs to have seen many of these things before, much like how a baby needs to see many cats and dogs before it can begin to understand the difference between them. So if we want the sensor to understand what it means when someone kneels on the floor, for example, we need to give it many examples of people kneeling on the floor. The more times it sees this event, the more confident it will be in understanding the event.

That's why we often ask for consent from the residents when we set up a new customer, as it gives us the opportunity to let the sensor learn the rooms and ensure that it can understand them correctly.
